Clinton, not the man but the town…September 2 or Day 137

Another short ride today.  We are doing our best to take care of  Ray’s shoulder. When we got up this morning we were greeted by rain.  We had a leisurely breakfast and a slow pack to wait it out.  By the time the bikes were fully geared, the rain had stopped and we were able to head out without getting too wet.

The roads were pretty…lots of corn fields…and quite quiet.  As we rode, the winds started to get up and with the partially wet roads, made for a ride that went from nice to not so much.  We fought the wind for a while until it became too much for Ray’s arm.  It was really bothering him, so we decided to call it a day.

We found a nice little town called Clinton in Iowa with an HIE right beside a Wal-Mart.  Yeah.  I know what you’re thinking and you’re right!  A Wal-Mart right beside, it has to be good place to stop!  LOL.  We settled in, and headed over to WM to grab a bite to eat at their in-store Subway, and meander around looking at stuff.

Once we were back in the room, the weather started to reveal itself.  The afternoon, although windy was really hot and sunny.  As the day came to a close the wind continued to roar, but the heavens opened and really heavy rain started.  The rain actually was falling horizontally!  Man did it pour!  The upside was that we were not on the road…YAY!

I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring, but I’m excited as we will be riding up the Mississippi river.  Cool.
