Happy Birthday Mom McKenzie! … Aug 11 or Day 115

Today was dedicated to celebrating Ray’s mom’s birthday.  A great, fun celebration to be sure!  Mom McKenzie selected a restaurant named ‘Shoeless Joes’ for her birthday celebration and it was a great selection. The restaurant is named after Joe Jackson who got the nickname ‘Shoeless Joe’  during a mill game played in Anderson, SC.  Jackson suffered from blisters on his foot from a new pair of cleats, and they hurt so much that he had to take his shoes off before an at bat.  As play continued, a heckling fan noticed Jackson running to third base in his socks, and shouted “You shoeless son of a gun, you!”, and the resulting nickname “Shoeless Joe” stuck with him throughout the remainder of his life (you can read more at Wikipedia if you like!).

This place is a casual dining place with a pub on the one side.  The walls are covered with authentic sport memorabilia and tv’s playing various sports games.  Our waitress, Jessie, rocked – she was hilarious, with a really quick wit.  As you can see, I loved this place, as did Ray and I would suggest if you are in Oshawa, you should stop by.  I should also say that if you DO stop by, you have got to try the Caesar (the drink, not the salad).  It’s one of the best I’ve had…and I KNOW what I’m talking about when it comes to the yumminess of a Caesar!  LOL.  The supper ended with this crazy ‘Birthday Taco’ and the wait staff chanting a birthday verse.  It was too funny – poor Mom McKenzie turned 3 shades of red, but was smiling widely so all was well!

We ended the night hanging out together, all nursing very full stomaches.  In the end, I hope that Mom McKenzie had a great night.  I know we did.
