Day 3…who knew we’d have WiFi 3 days in a row??

Now..don’t get used to us posting everyday…one of these days we are not going to be at a location that has a WiFi hook up!  But today we do have it – so here’s what happened.  It all started out well.  The sun was shining and it was a nice 10 degrees Celsius, we loaded the bikes in record time and we were off.  I must say, the very best ride time is first in the morning.  I don’t know what it is exactly, but it has something to do with the crisp air and the anticipation of what’s to come.

Today was supposed to be a day of rain, but we were lucky not to ride through any.  Now that sounds nice right…wait.  The sky quickly clouded over after we left Libby and the temperature dropped to about 8.5 degrees.  The drop in temp wasn’t that bad, but there we ran into mist.  Wow.  You know, when the temperature is down and you get that fine mist happening at 70 mph…it gets a bit chilly.  It’s sneaky too.  You’re feeling ok, then suddenly you realize that you are FREEZING.  Thank goodness that BMW made heated hand grips that certainly helped.  OH!  It should be said that God has a sense of humour too…since after we chilled like a fine Chardonnay in the mist we rode into Lewiston’s Columbia River Gorge where it was 17 degrees.  I was just warming when we went back into the mist and chilled again.  We were so cold by the time we hit Walla Walla that we called it a day.

It was mostly just a solid riding day, but I must tell you that when we stopped for a java at Sandpoint, ID we got to watch hippies in their natural habitat.  I do enjoy the fashion nonsense of a hippie.  It sort of looked like the one guy got dressed in a clown factory that had a power outage so he couldn’t see what he was picking.  OK, that’s a bit mean…but not that far off the truth.  I would have posted a picture, but couldn’t figure out how to get one without giving my self away…and if you’ve ever watched Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, you don’t give yourself up to the wildlife.  Lol.  Obviously I’ve lost my mind to exhaustion…so until next time…
